A Dash of Blue

 Outfit Details:
Leather Jacket: Wetseal
Dress: Charming Charlie's
Tights & Shoes: Target (same shoes)
Purse & charm bracelet: Gift
Earrings: Body Central
Necklace: Lace Affair
Ring: Vintage Heirloom

I love the pairing of a bright color with something a little bit more understated-in this case black. I brought out this lovely dress from Charming Charlie's for a family dinner we had near the new year. The dress is super comfy and gorgeous. I also love that I had earrings that matched the color of the dress so perfectly.

The purse is made all from recycled materials and is so adorable with its retro look. I am planning on shortening the straps a touch when I get a chance. This adorably purse makes me be a little bit more practical  Normally, my purse is like the bag from Mary Poppins. In this I can only fit my wallet, chap-stick (lipstick in this case), and bobby-pins  I would say also my keys, but I haven't introduced you to my enormous key set yet. Even if I didn't put everything else in the purse I'm not sure I could fit my keys in.

This week has been a refreshing breath of warm weather, I'm enjoying it. I hope that wherever you are it's warm as well.

Purple and Puppies

Outfit Details:
Jacket: Wetseal
Shirt: Hot topic
Leggings: Target
Scarf: Esprit in Belgium
Belt & Shoes: Charlotte Russe
Bracelet: Lace Affair
Necklace: Forever21
Purse: Gift
Puppies: Ollie and Indigo

I love my puppies, by puppies I mean mature dogs, they are way past being puppies. Not that I have favorites, but the yellow one, Ollie, is my favorite. Indigo, the other dog, is amazing as well and I feel horrible saying that I love one more than the other. I suppose it's because Ollie is calm-most of the time-and Indigo is a little more rowdy.

Ollie has a really cute-read annoyingly cute-trait where, when he stands beside you, he stands on your foot. This should explain why my shoes look so dirty. I think it is his protective instinct, or maybe it is like dog equivalent to holding hands. Indigo is our real guard dog though. If she sees anyone who could be dangerous she starts barking and growling. It might surprise you but these two darlings are brother and sister, as well as best friends.

I put together this outfit for a movie night, as I wanted something comfortable, yet something I could be seen in if we happened to go anywhere. This is one shirt that I don't wear enough, despite how much I adore it. I think I just might need to find more ways to wear it.

"You can never be overdressed or overeducated"

a quote from Oscar Wilde, one of my personal favorite play writes. Ever since I've heard this phrase I've really embraced it. I definitely think it's a good way to live through life. I know so many people who complain about how they never wear that outfit they bought because it's too fancy. I often get stopped by strangers who want to know why I am so dressed up. It bothered me at first, but I realized I would rather wear the things I love than things I just like to please others.
Outfit Details:
Dress: Made by my mum
Jewelry: Second hand jewelry store
Gloves: Icing
Shoes: Ebay

I probably haven't mentioned this before, but my mother is amazing. For my junior year I decided I wanted a dressed like the one Rose wears in Titanic. But instead of her red dress, I preferred blue. My mum made the dress without a pattern, which is extremely impressive and difficult.

These pictures are from early 2010 and were taken after my prom. These were taken by my brother. I love this dress and looking over these old photos makes me want to get dressed up in it again. However, just thinking about the corset makes me shrink away from this decision.

Just for a Moment

Outfit Details:
Cardigan & Shirt & Belt: Kohl's
Skirt: Made by me
Tights & Shoes: Target
Necklace & Earrings & Bracelet: Forever21

As I look over what I wore, I'm impressed by how few stores compose this outfit. However, when it comes to the outfit I'm still on the fence as to whether I really like it or not. I do know that I'm in love with the necklace from Forever21 and the shirt from Kohl's.

The park that these photos were taken has just become a favorite place of mine. One day I'm going to remember to take a tripod, that way I don't have to resort to using my car and tables to take photos.

Life is about holding still sometimes. I love being still in the midst of nature. It is also one of the few times I long for the feel of the sun, since otherwise I'm a vampire and live in the shade and underneath clouds.

"I've loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night."

An awe inspiring quote by Galileo Galilei.

I was always scared of being outside at night. Perhaps it was because I lived in the country and feared whatever dangerous animals might be lurking in the darkness, waiting to take a bite of me. Despite my small fear of night I love the stars. I remember when I was twelve and I realized that such peace could be found among the darkness and the twinkle of the stars. I just love being outdoors, but at night, when every thing is so silent, everything else just melts away. It makes my heart melt just at the thought.
Outfit Details:
Airforce Coat: vintage
Scarf: from streetmarket in Belgium
Dress & Necklace & Bracelet: Forever21
Tights: TJmax
Shoes: Target (same)
Airforce Sweatheart Ring: vintage

There is something about a good simple dress, something that can be dressed up or down. I had completely forgotten about this dress until I pulled it out for Christmas Eve dinner. I normally prefer to wear my hair up as it gives the outfit a pixie look, but I ended up running behind schedule. It doesn't help that my bangs are at that awkward length, too long to be regular bangs, but too short to be pulled to the side. I'll cut them eventually I'm sure.

I'm finally over this sickness, I'm still not sure what to call it as it was a mix of a cold and flu. I'm looking forward to embracing life outside of my room again. I really want to go used book shopping. For now though I'll just enjoy my own book collection. Goodnight and don't forget to glance at the stars now and then.

A Golden Sun & Lots of Rest

Outfit Details:
Shirt: Rue21
Jeggings: Kohl's
Earrings: Body Central
Necklace: Charming Charlie's

With the recent flood of colder weather, I tried my hand at taking some pictures inside. I still need to find someplace with better lighting, but for now it'll do. There is something that looks chic and effortless about this  outfit, maybe because it was a last minute choice?

I'm still sick and I'm ready for it to just go away. But, eh, it's life, isn't it? So for right now I'm subject to laying on my bed, drinking copious amounts of ginger ale and tea and watching TV shows. Right now I'm in the middle of Chuck, afterwards I have no idea what I'll watch. Any Suggestions?

Belated Senior Pictures

I recently had an awesome chance to have a family friend take some pictures for me. Actually senior pictures, a little late as I was out of the country for my senior year. Carlyn K photography took these amazingly beautiful pictures for me. She is a super talented photographer, with such an eye for photography and she is so enthusiastic about her passion, it is something to be envious about.

I chose three outfits for the photos and we had the shoot in mid-November when everything was about to turn brown and grey. We got so many good photos and I'm excited to share them with you. If you want to see more make sure to check out her blog post.

I've met a duchess

When lacking for words when meeting someone new this is one way to get the conversation going. It is definitely something that people do not expect you to say. Not to brag, but it is true. Of course at the time I had no idea, I found out later. Apparently, they did not want to overwhelm me. I was already overwhelmed, I was speaking a new language, hanging out with people I barely knew, and thrown into a completely different culture.

On a different subject, because I'm still fighting back the sickness and haven't had the chance to take photos yet, I thought I'd post some really old ones. These are from late July/early August. My brother snapped these photos for me. Just a little warning, my true colors come out in these photos

Outfit Details:
Jacket: gift
Shirt: Deja Vu
Skirt: Forever21
Tights: Target
Shoes: Forever21
Necklace & Earrings: gift
Sonic Screwdriver: Amazon (same)

I've mentioned before, briefly, that I love science fiction. Back in the summer when my brother spotted someone with a TARDIS in their yard, I knew I had to get some pictures with it. Being very brave, I'm normally shy, I went to the house and asked if I could take photos with it. Obviously, they said yes.

The inspiration for the outfit came from one of the doctor's companions-Amy Pond. Her outfits tends to consist of mini skirts, tights, leather jackets, and boots. The discovery of the TARDIS was good timing, as just a few weeks earlier I had received my sonic screwdriver in the mail. I'm a geek and I admit it happily.

What are your geek-isms?
