Blue and Apple Tree Blooms

Outfit Details:
Top & Skirt: Body central
Necklaces & Bracelets: gifts
Ring: Forever21
Shoes: Wetseal
Hat: Target

Recently I've tended to go a little overboard when creating outfits with certain color themes. The blue here is a pretty good explain, especially since everything seems to be blue. The worst part of it? I can't remember if I intended to have everything be so blue or not. Let's hope so. That being said, I really do like the changes in shades for this outfit. I'm a sucker for blue and hats. Blue hats, hmm.
P.S. Yes, those are bobby pins on my sandals.

Army Green at the Pond

Outfit Details:
Jacket & Dress & Tights: Wetseal
Shoes & grey choker used as bracelet: Hottopic
Blue Bracelet & Necklace: gift
Purse: Charlotte Russe

I bought this dress almost three years ago. I've always liked it, but something about it never fit into my style. I managed to make it a little more me here, by changing the straps to be a halter top fit, instead of the more traditional straps it had. The nice thing about this dress is that it has pockets! It's a little short and I probably wouldn't feel comfortable wearing out and about on a regular day. Maybe one day I'll shorten it and make it into a shirt instead.

Happy Memorial(day) Weekend!

Sisters and Their Dresses

Outfit Details:
Jacket: Wetseal
Dress: Kohl's
Hat & Tights & Shoes: Target
Purse: Gift
Earrings: Hottopic
Necklace: Made by me.

When it comes to my sisters, though our styles differ greatly, there tend to be pieces we both love. While shopping with one of my sisters we found this dress and opted to share it. We are roughly the same size in everything, from shoes to dresses. While currently the dress lives in my closet, it'll be shared. (Well, maybe, some day, that is if she's lucky.)
P.S. I had originally intended to photograph my sister wearing the same dress and share those pictures with these, but we both forgot. Hopefully sometime soon I'll (force) her to prose for some pictures in it and post them. Some people can't tell we're sisters. Though on the phone, chances are, we'll fool you.

Jungle Wear

Outfit Details:
Button up shirt: from my mum's closet
Blue shirt: Rue21
Skirt: made by me
Purse: H & M
Belt: Kohl's
Bracelet & Necklace: Deja Vu
Earrings: Hottopic
Rain boots: Target

When it comes to trambling through fields, it is best to have the right shoes. Rain boots are for muddy exploring shoes. I really like how this outfit seems to reflect a wooded adventure, hopefully somewhere with good cloud coverage and very few mosquitoes. I rather really like the earthy tones at play. In case you haven't noticed, I tend to migrate towards more statement colors. Here, I think the bright blue is the perfect addition to just give a little bit of a pop.

These pictures make me want to watch the Indiana Jones movies again. Not too grand of a leap, I think, perhaps I should find a hat to go with this ensemble. What do you think?

The Comfort of (Historical) Fashion

For as long as I remember I've loved dressing up. Not necessarily just in fancy clothing, but in anything that made me feel magical. Perhaps that is what I love so much about period clothing. I grew up on history. Despite the comings and goings of my other interests history has always been at the top. As children my parents took us many places that exposed us to the rich historical culture. Mostly, though, I remember places like Colonial Williamsburg.

Say what people may about fashion and clothing, but one of the greatest things about it is how it can make you feel beautiful. It isn't about the price or the brand-though sometimes they seem to help-it's about how they make you feel. Fashion is magic, the ability it has to change your attitude. I still like to get dressed up, even if I have nowhere to go, or even if it needs a corset that seems to shed three inches off my waist.

Dress: Made by my mother
Necklace: Online somewhere, forever ago

This is a dress my mother made, she actually made it for herself, but later on made alterations so that it could fit me. Funny thing is that I had a corset before I even had a dress to wear it with. I can't help but like period clothing. It's fitting, I suppose. People might be surprised by my interests because at first glance I'm that girl who likes makeup, hair, and cfashion, but of course like everything it stems much deeper than that. History and it's influences have always been my favorite subject.

When the Magnolia Trees Bloom

Outfit Details:
Dress: Body Central
Necklace & Belt & Earrings: made by me
Shoes: Doctor Scholls fast flats

I love Magnolia trees. I have a soft spot in my heart for these. We have one, right alongside our driveway. Every April it's in bloom for a short week, it blooms before the apple trees and the pears. I love the smell when it catches in the air. Unfortunately the flowers don't stay for very long. If you pick them, they go limb rather quick. I knew that if I wanted pictures with the tree in bloom I'd have to be quick. Plus I'd have to face my fears of bees. So if in any of the pictures I look like I'm in fear, I probably am.
