My Spoon Necklace

Outfit Details:
Jacket: TJmaxx
Dress: Modcloth
Tights: Target
Spoon Handle Necklace: Gift from my Mom
Boots: Ebay

September is Achalasia awareness month, so today seemed the perfect day to share this. For those of you who have been reading along for a while, you might recall my post from last year about my long (and continious) battle with Achalasia. When you suffer from any kind of disease there are ups and downs and flares when your body just starts breaking down on you. Also, more often than not, a chronic illness brings friends - you never just have one enemy to fight against - making for a most difficult journey.

The spoon handle I'm wearing in these pictures was a gift from my mom. She engraved my nickname, Mishy-Me, on it. She was probably unaware of it's meaning to me at the time - since then I've shared its importance with her. For me a spoon represents the first time I'd ever heard someone else put my trials so perfectly into words. The Spoon Theory by Christine Miserandino helped others understand exactly what I had been experiencing for years.

So now I diviate from my regular scheduled programing to share a donation page made for Christine to help pay for some of her most recent (and overwhelming) medical bills. The full story requesting aid may be read here, donations may also be made on the same page. Christine has helped so many with their struggles and I'm glad for the chance to return the favor.

Creek Climbing

Outfit Details:
Jacket & Shirt: Forever21
Shorts & Boots & Bracelet: Ebay
Tights & Socks: Target
Necklace & Earrings: Modcloth

I love this outfit. It composes many features that I have long loved: high waists, warm colors, and combat boots. Of course, I found a great spot to take the pictures as well because my outfit photos must have a beautiful background.
