Fall Mornings

Outfit Details:
Sweater & Shirt: TJmaxx
Shorts & Boots & Rings: Forever21
Tights & Socks: Target
Necklace: Lace Affair

The hair was chopped off and the bottom bleached. I've had my regular red hair for so long, I was glad to change it up a little. By now most of the color has gone, so I'm planning to go a little bit wilder next time.

As I'm editing these warm fall photos, I'm huddled next to a fire waiting out a snow storm. I often mention having a favorite season, but the truth is I love them all. Winter or fall. Especially when I have nowhere to go.

My Spoon Necklace

Outfit Details:
Jacket: TJmaxx
Dress: Modcloth
Tights: Target
Spoon Handle Necklace: Gift from my Mom
Boots: Ebay

September is Achalasia awareness month, so today seemed the perfect day to share this. For those of you who have been reading along for a while, you might recall my post from last year about my long (and continious) battle with Achalasia. When you suffer from any kind of disease there are ups and downs and flares when your body just starts breaking down on you. Also, more often than not, a chronic illness brings friends - you never just have one enemy to fight against - making for a most difficult journey.

The spoon handle I'm wearing in these pictures was a gift from my mom. She engraved my nickname, Mishy-Me, on it. She was probably unaware of it's meaning to me at the time - since then I've shared its importance with her. For me a spoon represents the first time I'd ever heard someone else put my trials so perfectly into words. The Spoon Theory by Christine Miserandino helped others understand exactly what I had been experiencing for years.

So now I diviate from my regular scheduled programing to share a donation page made for Christine to help pay for some of her most recent (and overwhelming) medical bills. The full story requesting aid may be read here, donations may also be made on the same page. Christine has helped so many with their struggles and I'm glad for the chance to return the favor.

Touch of Summer

Outfit Details:
Cardigan & Skirt & Earrings: Kohls
Top: Forever21
Necklace: Thrifted
Shoes: Doctor Scholls Fast Flats

Hair, Hair, and Hair. When it comes to summer I start my quest to find the perfect hair style for a girl who hates heat,  my hair tends to keep a lot locked in. While I'm more of a bun girl than a pony tail girl, I felt like this was a fun exception. Only problem is that I don't think I can recreate it the same. What I love about updos is the no need for heat. Besides, embrace messy hair, right?

The day before these pictures were taken I bought a 80 shade pack of eye shadowfor ten dollars. So I had some fun afterwards making some new looks with said eye shadow  I actually really like how this turned out and how pigmented the orange is.

I think the cold has finally been abandoned and we can feel the coming touch of summer. June is here already, wow!

Yellow Lace and Book Reading Weather

Outfit Details:
Plaid button up: Walmart
Lace yellow top & Ring: Forever21
Skirt: Thrifted (and shortened)
Necklace: World Market
Purse: Marc's
Tights & Shoes: Target

This was my first spring outfit of the season. It was such a beautiful day, I spent most of it outdoors: reading and climbing trees and playing with my puppies.

With spring (and summer) coming (well, spring is actually here, but whatever) it is the season of updos. If you are anything like me, than wearing the hair down is just a gigantic no. My hair is like a heated blanket in and of itself. Come May I plan on chopping off a few inches and that way getting rid of split ends and giving my hair a chance to regrow. That is the nice thing about when you wearing your hair up all the time, you don't really feel like you are giving up your long hair.

Welcome to spring everyone.

Dancing like a Fool

Outfit Details:
Green Leather Jacket & Shirt & Skirt: Forever21
Shoes & Tights: Target
Necklace : Vintage

I recently had a conversation with my friend about a dress I wanted to get. "Is it from Forever21?" she asked. The dress actually wasn't, but those who know me quickly learn that about half of my wardrobe is from Forever21. It's an inexpensive store with a great selection and great sales. This shirt is one of my favorite shirts, as it works great for fancy occasions or dressed down. For the record, I had no intention to make this a Forever21 outfit, it just kind of happened.

While taking these photos I dance around like a fool as the post title suggests. It was so warm that day. I didn't even wear my coat while I ate my first ice cream cone of the year. I was freezing, but still it wasn't that cold and the sun was shining. Also, you might not be able to tell in the pictures, but my nails match my coat. It wasn't intentional, but it happened.

What I love most about this outfit is that it's a type of grunge dress, without being too grungy. (Is that even a word?) The fact that I did nothing to my hair besides take it out of its braid and brush it, probably helps sell the grunge effect. It is also very laid back and all the clothing is very comfortable, which is perfect for any spring adventures

The Hair Fair

When I was young, ten maybe? I had an English project where I was supposed to write a poem. I don't do poety by the way, no matter how much I love it. So my poem was about a hair fair. I wish I knew where that poem was now. I created it with help of one of my childhood friends and a lot of good memories came with that poem.

On the subject of hair, I desperately need it cut and dyed. Unfortunately I'm the one that cuts and dyes my own hair. I've actually never had my hair dyed professional and I haven't had someone else cut my hair in seven years. I've learned from my mistakes. Let's not talk about the almost mullet I once gave myself. I always say that I am going to have someone else cut my hair, just so that I know its even and shaped. Yet . . . I always realize why I cut my own hair, no one knows your hair like you. So, I imagine one day I'll just grab the scissors and start chopping - layers, not length.

 Outfit Details:
Coat: Kohls
Scarf: Belgium- H&M I think
Dress: Forever21
Belt over Coat: Kohl's
Belt: Charlotte Russe
Tights & Shoes & Gloves: Target
Necklace: Made by me
Longer Necklace: Lace Affair (pictured better here)

At the time that I took these pictures it was about 3 degrees out and there was about a foot of snow and even more was coming down. I only snapped about a handful of pictures before quickly running back to my car. The really stupid choice I made was taking off my gloves for any amount of time.

Today, the weather is balmy forty degrees. I should be out frolicking in it, or at least running, but I'm lazy today. What can I say?

Also I feel like I need to apologize for the repeats of these tights and shoes. But the shoes are one of the comfiest pairs I own. Plus, I've been on a red kick lately. I promise that I will try to introduce new tights, I can't promise any new shoes - at least not until it gets a little bit warmer.

The Wind was My First Love

Pocahontas was not my favorite princess. If you want a clue as to who is, my hair color is the biggest clue. However, Pocahontas was always special to me. Colors of the Wind and Just Around the River Bend are a couple of my favorite songs. Perhaps my adoration of the story explains my obsession with the wind. I always wondered if it is too weird that I am in love with the wind. My favorite weather is right when the wind picks up and it is about to storm or just after a storm. Yet, it can be really difficult to take pictures when it's windy, especially with messy, frizzy hair that tends to love getting tangled in said windy weather.

Hopefully that will explain these bad photos and the hair that refuses to stand still.
