To Climb a Mountain

Have you ever climbed a mountain just for outfit photos? No? Okay.

I've actually done this before and on the same mountain. (Picture proof here)
Outfit Details: Jacket (TJmaxx) Dress (Kohl's) Vest (thrifted) Boots (White Mountain) Necklace (Vintage) Beret (amazon)

This was the first place I stood after having moved to Maine, the original story, where I knew I had chosen the right place. The mountains had swelled around me and the wind roughed my hair and I felt a stillness that is hard to compare. Then I had to race down the mountainside because I was going to be late for work. But that was years ago.

I've climbed this mountain a couple of times since then and even when the path's a little rougher than I expect, I reach the top and sigh.

I think we all need little places like this and I don't mind sharing one of mine.

Copper Among the Trees and Me

Outfit Details: Dress & Belt (Forever21) Jacket & Tights (TJmaxx) Boots (White Mountain)

My outfit pictures are intentional outings. Every time I explore new places, I make mental notes for future outfit settings. This bridge is part of a trail I used to run every week, it leads to the ocean side at the edge of a cliff. In heels it might have been a bit treacherous to walk the whole path, so I settled for this halfway spot. All the leaves had already abandoned their trees and the creek was silent that evening. It was beautiful and peaceful, a clash against all of the anxiety I'd been hoarding that day.

For so long these outfit pictures have given me an opportunity to overcome my anxiety and explore. It's hard to go to new places alone, and setting myself up with the goal of pictures like these has managed to make it a little easier.

And a small bonus in this set of pictures is having a dress that matches the copper shades of your hair.

Hoping your week was wonderful.

My Little Blueberry Hill

Outfit Details: Blazer (gift) Dress (Target) Necklace (Vintage) Booties (White Mountain)

This little hill is one of my favorite places on earth, especially after summer when everything starts to change colors. (See more here and here) My mom always says it reminders her of Blueberries for Sal.

This dress is also a favorite and a rare occasion where my wardrobe doesn't contain a thing from TJmaxx.

Hope you're having a bright November!

Camden Harbor Sunrise

Outfit Details: Jean Jacket & Shirt & Skirt (TJmaxx) Boots (White Mountain) Necklace (Modcloth)

When I decided to chop off much of my hair, I really wanted one more good set of photos to show off the long locks. So, I pulled myself out of bed before the sun was up one Saturday morning and these were the result. I don't even regret the hours of sleep I lost.

I'm loving my short hair. I'm probably saved a week of my life by not have to brush through the above madness anymore. But more on that next time.

The Bridge Ate My Phone

Outfit Details: Shirt (NewYorker) Skirt (TJmaxx) Boots (White Mountain) Necklace (gift)

The bridge didn't eat my phone, but I probably wanted it to at some point.

I can normally look back and recall the details of the day from any photoshoot. I'll remember how I stumbled upon my set - if it was an intentional destination or a happy coincidence. I'll remember what mood inspired my dress for the day or if there was any practicality in it, but I don't really recall any of that for these photos. What I do remember is that my phone had just had a new system update and I hadn't quite mastered it yet. There might have been a few threats made.

This bridge has played the backdrop to my photos once before and it probably will again, because, let's be honest, bridges make for great photos.

Mermaid Aspirations

Outfit Details: Dress & Jacket (TJmaxx) Necklace (Vintage) Boots (White Mountain)

I'm still waiting to wake up one morning a mermaid, if just for one day.

Maine's rocky shores are what stole my heart some four years ago. I woke up early that first day in Maine and stumbled out to watch the sunrise and that was it, I knew Maine was going to be my next home.

Maine continues to catch me off guard and days like this one where the wind pulls the fog in over the shores, I really can't imagine living anywhere else.
