Christmas of Les Miserables

Christmas was awesome and tiring, but it always is. Christmas night I went with friends to see Les Miserables. That was my Christmas present to myself, I don't tend to see movies in theaters, because between the ticket and the popcorn it equals the price if you were to buy the movie. There are always a few exceptions and this was one. I've read the book, forever ago, and seen the play in a local production, not to mention watched the broadway version on youtube a bunch of times, so I was anxiously awaiting the movie. I was not disappointed, if you get a chance, see it! It was a little long to watch in one sitting. I miss intermissions, but still worth it!

Now that much of the holiday excitement is over, everything seems so calm. Is that weird? Well, I suppose i'ts time to put away decorations and finish up any Christmas cookies we have left. Actually that isn't going to happen, we made so many. It will take me forever to eat them all.

Merry Christmas!

In my family Christmas Eve is more exciting that Christmas by all accounts. For dinner we have Boeuf Bourguignon, which if you've ever seen Julie and Julia you might recall the trials with the french stew. I can't remember a time when we haven't had it for dinner. We also have delicious french bread, fruit soup, and salad. After dinner we have some extended family over for cookies and tea and exchange fun gifts. Right before we go to bed my parents would let us open one present, normally from our stockings. It sounds simple, but perhaps that is what is best about it. It isn't really about the food or the presents, but about the people-though I'm not trying to get all mushy on you.

On to these pictures, this dress has quickly become my new favorite. While pink has never been a favorite color of mine, I love the combination of the black lace with such a soft color. It was so cold that day that I wore two pairs of tights, which actually had a pretty cool effect, and I'll probably do the solid color under lace tights again soon.

Well, now that all the presents are wrapped, dinner is stewing, and it's finally snowing it seems like Christmas is finally here. I'll wish you Merry Christmas once more and I hope you have an awesome one.

Today and yesterday I spent most of the day doing Christmas like things. I went Christmas present shopping,  made Christmas cookies and decorated them too. I watched Christmas in Connecticut with the family and I also watched my mum and sister make Kolachi, which is a sweet nut bread that has been a family tradition for years. My hands are now covered in food coloring and frosting and I probably smell like butter. I do love Christmas time, but every year it takes me awhile to get into it. As we get older Christmas seems to lose some of its flavor. Especially as old tradition change as people grow up or move or pass away. Still I can't wait for the first real snow, so I can have a magical walk about town. But for now I plan on cuddling up with some warm hot chocolate and relaxing. There is something magical about the combining of everything that makes up Christmas, I hope I never forget that.
