Blue Toile and Falling Off of Docks

Outfit Details: Jacket (TJmaxx) Vest (thrifted) Porcelain Style Dress (also pictured here & here) & Necklace & From the Same Cloth Boots (ModCloth)

So that last photo? That was me realizing the wooden pole I was leaning against was not secure and I almost fell in.

I'm learning to be a little braver with my photo taking. I used to go to places no one would bother and stop if someone happened walked by. Not so much anymore, maybe Prague broke me of that. I even had a nice conversation with a stranger who kindly asked what I was doing and why I was doing it. I guess it's about time I started embracing this, I have only been doing it for seven years.

I'm pretty excited about this holiday season, I'm normally a bit of a grinch, but not this year. I'm looking forward to the whole season and especially going home and seeing all my family. I hope everyone has a happy holiday and feels a little bit merry!

Copper Among the Trees and Me

Outfit Details: Dress & Belt (Forever21) Jacket & Tights (TJmaxx) Boots (White Mountain)

My outfit pictures are intentional outings. Every time I explore new places, I make mental notes for future outfit settings. This bridge is part of a trail I used to run every week, it leads to the ocean side at the edge of a cliff. In heels it might have been a bit treacherous to walk the whole path, so I settled for this halfway spot. All the leaves had already abandoned their trees and the creek was silent that evening. It was beautiful and peaceful, a clash against all of the anxiety I'd been hoarding that day.

For so long these outfit pictures have given me an opportunity to overcome my anxiety and explore. It's hard to go to new places alone, and setting myself up with the goal of pictures like these has managed to make it a little easier.

And a small bonus in this set of pictures is having a dress that matches the copper shades of your hair.

Hoping your week was wonderful.

If the opportunity presents itself, I promise you I'm bringing out my umbrella. I have a great love for rainy days and not just because it's perfect book weather.

Vienna, oh Vienna

 Outfit Details:
Coat & Dress: Pull and Bear
Scarf & Tights & Belt: TJmaxx
Sweater: Kohl's
Boots: CCC
Necklace: Lace Affair

Vienna was one of cities I got the opportunity to visit during my months in Europe. The highlight of this trip, for me, was visiting the national library. Setting foot inside was a true Beauty and Beast moment and for this little bookworm, something to knock off my bucket list.

My last photo I'm wearing my "I'm uncomfortable, there are so many people around and I feel awkward taking my own photos" pose. Which is basically how I feel whenever I take pictures in the public. Maybe, pretty please, one day I will feel comfortable doing this.

On the city itself, it was a whirlwind experience.
I spent most of my time just wandering around. It was shorter than expected. Isn't it always? And I can't wait to go back.

Oh, My Darling Harbor

Outfit Details:
Sweater & Dress: Kohl's
Skirt: Thrifted
Necklace: Lace Affair
Boots: DSW

With the most recent hop across the pond, I wanted to see if I could ditch the old snap and shoot camera and use only my camera phone. So when I visited Maine this past August I tested it out and I was surprisingly pleased with my results. What it boils down to is that now I need to carry one less thing. Hurrah!

Also this skirt should get special mention. One of my best friends bought it for me and then my awesome mom helped make some size adjustments. So basically now whenever I wear it now I have superpowers.

Have a good weekend!

Blue in the Cemetery

 Outfit Details:
Vest & Tights: TJmaxx
Dress: Kohl's
From the Same Cloth Boots: Modcloth
Necklace: Lace Affair

This is still one of my favorite places. Being back in my home town for a couple of months this summer meant I got to walk down memory lane. This spot was a frequent participant in some shenanigans with my best friend (meaning we took many walks here and told each other scary stories).

Actually, October is when it's most beautiful. The trees there are the most vibrant. Til next year, little cemetery.

Where the Mountains and Sea Meet

Outfit Details:
Jacket & Shirt & Jeans: TJmaxx
Long Sleeve Shirt: Target
Boots: Ebay
Necklace: Vintage
Scarf: Paris
Earrings: Gift

Taking pictures in the bright sun is to be avoided unless the background is too gorgeous to miss out on. This spot is my favorite, perhaps, of all the little places I've found in my new land. I climbed to the top and the wind took me the rest of the way up. This little land where the sea and the mountains meet is magical. No one may really deny that.

Lacy Dresses and Hidden Beaches

Outfit Details:
Cardigan: Belgium
Tights: Target
Necklace: Lace Affair
Scarf: Paris

This is an adorable little beach hidden off the main drag where I live. In the past I've had the luxury of having so much home ground for my background, now I'm having to get used to taking pictures (of myself) with onlookers. While the beaches (and parks) may look empty, but I am often crossing paths with others and struggling with the awkwardness that is self-photography. Of course, it is the struggle that is half the fun.

Harbor Side

Outfit Details:
Jacket: TJmaxx
Top: Kohl's
Skirt & Tights: H&M
Boots: Ebay

With this weird winter I could almost say that these are winter pictures, but alas they are from August and I'm still working from old photo albums. I'll get there eventually, but it's kind of fun going through pictures from months ago.

I'm still in this phase of finding good places for pictures out here. This is one of the little places I like to stop off with lunch and a book. I don't know how it fares for pictures yet. But here's  to wishing everyone a late merry Christmas!

My Side of the Mountain

 Outfit Details:
Jacket: Gift
Shirt & Undershirt & Belt: Kohl's
Boots & Tights: TJmaxx
Necklace: Made by me

What is the most ridiculous place you have ever ventured to take pictures? Well, for me it's probably the top of this mountain. I underestimated just how much of a climb this was going to be. I wasn't dressed that appropriately for climbing a mountain nor did I have water with me. It was pretty awesome though and when I got to the top I wanted to stay there.

It was one of the best days, from climbing mountains to Maine finally starting to feel like my new home. Sigh.

To Rise with the Maine Tide

Outfit Details:
Jacket: Wetseal
Sweater: Kohl's
Necklace: Lace Affair
Dress & Boots: TJmaxx
Tights & Socks: Target

The last few post have all been about my New England adventure, well this was my last stop. It wasn't intentional, but perhaps ended up being the most important. I ended up arriving here just at sunset, tired after a day of driving and adventuring. I booked a room just for one night, right beside the ocean. I set my alarm for an early hour and woke to watch the sunrise. It was gorgeous. Then I went back to my room and got my tripod and camera and came back to take pictures.

When you're the one always taking pictures on an old point and shoot camera, you're never sure what you are going to get. The years of self photography have taught me a lot, as have books and the internet. But these have to be some of my favorite pictures I've ever take. The location mixed with magic hour -  I just don't know how you're supposed to beat that.

I should mention that this was when I fell head over heels in love with Maine, but that story is for another day.
