To Climb a Mountain

Have you ever climbed a mountain just for outfit photos? No? Okay.

I've actually done this before and on the same mountain. (Picture proof here)
Outfit Details: Jacket (TJmaxx) Dress (Kohl's) Vest (thrifted) Boots (White Mountain) Necklace (Vintage) Beret (amazon)

This was the first place I stood after having moved to Maine, the original story, where I knew I had chosen the right place. The mountains had swelled around me and the wind roughed my hair and I felt a stillness that is hard to compare. Then I had to race down the mountainside because I was going to be late for work. But that was years ago.

I've climbed this mountain a couple of times since then and even when the path's a little rougher than I expect, I reach the top and sigh.

I think we all need little places like this and I don't mind sharing one of mine.

Blue Toile and Falling Off of Docks

Outfit Details: Jacket (TJmaxx) Vest (thrifted) Porcelain Style Dress (also pictured here & here) & Necklace & From the Same Cloth Boots (ModCloth)

So that last photo? That was me realizing the wooden pole I was leaning against was not secure and I almost fell in.

I'm learning to be a little braver with my photo taking. I used to go to places no one would bother and stop if someone happened walked by. Not so much anymore, maybe Prague broke me of that. I even had a nice conversation with a stranger who kindly asked what I was doing and why I was doing it. I guess it's about time I started embracing this, I have only been doing it for seven years.

I'm pretty excited about this holiday season, I'm normally a bit of a grinch, but not this year. I'm looking forward to the whole season and especially going home and seeing all my family. I hope everyone has a happy holiday and feels a little bit merry!

Copper Among the Trees and Me

Outfit Details: Dress & Belt (Forever21) Jacket & Tights (TJmaxx) Boots (White Mountain)

My outfit pictures are intentional outings. Every time I explore new places, I make mental notes for future outfit settings. This bridge is part of a trail I used to run every week, it leads to the ocean side at the edge of a cliff. In heels it might have been a bit treacherous to walk the whole path, so I settled for this halfway spot. All the leaves had already abandoned their trees and the creek was silent that evening. It was beautiful and peaceful, a clash against all of the anxiety I'd been hoarding that day.

For so long these outfit pictures have given me an opportunity to overcome my anxiety and explore. It's hard to go to new places alone, and setting myself up with the goal of pictures like these has managed to make it a little easier.

And a small bonus in this set of pictures is having a dress that matches the copper shades of your hair.

Hoping your week was wonderful.

My Little Blueberry Hill

Outfit Details: Blazer (gift) Dress (Target) Necklace (Vintage) Booties (White Mountain)

This little hill is one of my favorite places on earth, especially after summer when everything starts to change colors. (See more here and here) My mom always says it reminders her of Blueberries for Sal.

This dress is also a favorite and a rare occasion where my wardrobe doesn't contain a thing from TJmaxx.

Hope you're having a bright November!

It's Maine Again!

Outfit Details: Shirt & Watch (Kohl's) Skirt (JCPenney) Necklace (Modcloth) Blazer &Tights & Booties (TJmaxx)

If you follow my Instagram, it might have been long apparent that I moved back to Maine this past fall. Here's the actual outfit proof. These pieces have become a staple in my closet, from the plaid shirt down to the boots. But, I'll be honest, the skirt's my favorite, I love anything with A-line and in plaid.

This beach is another thing, not too long ago it used to be within walking distance of me. After work, I'd grab a book and walk down the road to this little sandy patch. It was one of the first places I visited when I found my way back to Maine.

Prague for One

Outfit Details:
Scarf & Shirt & Boots: TJmaxx
Sweater & Jeans: Kohl's
Book: Paris for One (and other stories) by Jojo Moyes

Bonus: book recommendation! Recently I've been a little obsessed with all things Jojo Moyes. I read the Me Before You series just before the movie was released and fell in love with her stories. Besides Paris for One, I've also just read the Girl You Left Behind, which might have become my new favorite.

I'm coming up on my last few weeks in Prague and I have mixed emotions about leaving: excited to go home and be in a familiar culture, but deeply sadden by leaving this city that I've come to love. But I know it's hard to keep me away from Europe, so I imagine I won't be away for too long.

The Garden's View

 Outfit Details:
Jacket & Tights: TJmaxx
Skirt & Shirt (prague): Forever21
Boots: DSW

Slowly, I've been failing in love with Prague. We had a rocky start. But now here we are, I'm little more than a month from my departure date and just at the thought my heart begins to ache. I hope the experiences and memories I've gained from my time here will last a lifetime, but I'm getting ahead of myself. For now, let's just enjoy the view.

That's Prague in the Distance

 Outfit Details:
Jacket & Scarf: TJmaxx
Dress: Forever21 (prague)
Boots: DSW
Tights & Socks: Target
Luxe and Wanderlust Necklace: Modcloth

It's been a long time coming, but here it is at last: my first Prague outfit post!

With a new address and an enticing new city, I've been more focused on exploring than fashion. The day I took these photos it was a little chilly out and the perfect chance to bring out my new dress. I forgot how much I love dressing up. Not even dressing up, but maybe dressing with intention. My style has always been a big part of my identity and when I'm busy I tend to tone it down for more casual pieces. Those days I always feel a little less me.

As they say in Prague ,,MÄ•j se hezky!" (Have a good day!)

Storms and Skies

Outfit Details:
Jacket & Dress & Boots: TJmaxx
Tights & Socks & Umbrella: Target
Scarf: Paris

Have I mentioned how much I love rain? Okay, okay I like all weather. Some might be more fun than others. Little rain showers and snow falls in the morning. I cruise around with an umbrella at my side, never knowing when I might want to take a stroll in the rain. I'm trying to remember to stop more often and just take in the sights. So many drives through Maine have led to the most spectacular scenes. There's so much magic in the sky. By the way, I like snow even after we fought because it caused my car to hit a stationary object. But that's winter for you.

Fall Mornings

Outfit Details:
Sweater & Shirt: TJmaxx
Shorts & Boots & Rings: Forever21
Tights & Socks: Target
Necklace: Lace Affair

The hair was chopped off and the bottom bleached. I've had my regular red hair for so long, I was glad to change it up a little. By now most of the color has gone, so I'm planning to go a little bit wilder next time.

As I'm editing these warm fall photos, I'm huddled next to a fire waiting out a snow storm. I often mention having a favorite season, but the truth is I love them all. Winter or fall. Especially when I have nowhere to go.

Roadside Spots

Outfit Details:
Sweater: Second hand
Shirt: Kohl's
Skirt &  Tights: Forever21
Boots: TJmaxx
Necklace: Modcloth
Scarf: Paris
Purse & Belt: Charlotte Russe

On my way home on a day out, this little spot caught my eye. I always try to take my camera with me if I think there might be the slightest chance of squaring away some photos. From the colors of the outfit to the warmth of the trees, I love how it all plays together. There is something so enviable about the in-between weather of the seasons.
