Happy Halloween: Kiss the Girl

Outfit Details:
Made by me and my mum.

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays - mainly because it's fun, I love costumes, and I have great memories from past ones. When Halloween came around last year I really didn't have any intentions to dress up, but after a suggestion from my friend I decided to be Ariel. In case the red hair wasn't an indicator, she's always been my favorite Disney princess. While my Halloween plans that year fell through, months later I managed to wear the home made costume outside of the house and get some pictures.

On a freezing morning I dressed up and went to the beach, tugging along a friend who slept huddled in blankets while I took pictures. The experience made me realize that Ariel's hair would be nothing like suggested and my hair and beach weather don't get along so well. But, now you know: I'm a total sucker for Ariel and Halloween.
I love dressing up, and well, I'm totally okay with it.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Outfit Details:
Jacket: Hottopic
Dress & Belt: Kohl's
Red Skirt: Thrifted
Other skirt & Tights: Target
Purse: H&M
Combat Boots: TJmaxx
Necklace: Lace affair

This might not be my Halloween costume, but it's so themed of red that it feels like a costume. My actual costume isn't really finished yet. I still have to hem the skirt, oops! Eventually I'll manage some pictures and share it with you guys, but for now I'm keeping it under wraps. As for this outfit I was clearly feeling the whole red color scheme. Somehow, I don't think this has ever happened before, but my hair managed to match this shade perfectly. I layered two skirts because otherwise it was just too short to wear, but it was thrifted and who can say no to that color?

Halloween always feels like the end of autumn, and on this day the weather was beautiful - grey, with a little bit of a warm breeze. The jacket that kept me warm, it's been so loved that there are holes in it. I bought it some five years ago at Hottopic and managed to tote it through Europe with me. I don't wear it as much as I used to, but it's still fun to bring out for a cool evening, and - though you can hardly see it - the inside of the hood is red plaid and somehow it's the same shade as all the rest.

So what is your Halloween costume?

A Bajoran Starfleet Officer

I'll admit it, I'm kind of a sci-fi geek. I used an XXL shirt from Target and made it into a Star Trek uniform. I used this tutorial. I wore fake eyelashes as I wanted to keep the sixties theme. I've always wanted to have a Bajoran nose, but after a while the glue began to itch and made my nose all bright red. I still have some  alterations that need to be done to the costume, like making the neckline lower. I hope that I will get a chance to wear it again, specifically to a star trek convention. Okay, I'm a big sci-fi geek. We aren't even going to get into Doctor Who and all the other obsessions of mine.

What did you dress as for Halloween?

Trick or Treat

Outfit Details:
Jacket: Forever21
blue shirt: thrifted
button up shirt: Kohl's
skirt: thrifted and shortened
tights: target
shoes: Forever21
Necklace and wallet: hottopic
earrings and bracelet: Icing

Despite my initial girly appearance I still hold on tightly to the Gothic style of my teenage years. Most of my older clothes tend to have been purchased from hottopic and are the color black. Since before I was an official teen I would just wear jeans and graphic T-shirts. My style has evolved the most in the last two years. I grew more comfortable with dressing in, what was considered out of the normal where I live. Because I live far away from cities and hip joints I rarely see anyone else in dresses, skirts, or heels. But I've learned to embrace the kind of clothes I like, even if they aren't extremely flattering, but just that I'm comfortable in them, or when it comes to some of my favorites shoes, that I am very uncomfortable in them.

I have absolutely no idea why I like bats, preferably not real ones in the house. My room tends to looks somewhere between an enchanted forest or a haunted house. Spiders don't bother me either. I've never been problematic about bugs, because I grew up in an old house. However, I do freak out when it comes to wasps, bees, or hornets - it's every man for himself. I'm not such a wimp that I won't kill them, though sometimes I have left family members defenseless as I flee the room. Hey! You have to be prepared to fight off a wasp.

Halloween has always been a good excuse to dress however you want to. It means different things for different people. For some it means being what you have always wanted to be, others it's a simply thing of looking cute, sometimes its about being out of the norm. Sometimes it's about dressing up to show off your amazing taste, which if you are curious is my choice. I suppose the dressing as what you have always wanted to be applies as well. But that isn't for this post, I'll show off my real Halloween costume in my next post.

Happy Halloween a day late

<^^> Misha - that should look like a bat.
