Harbor Side

Outfit Details:
Jacket: TJmaxx
Top: Kohl's
Skirt & Tights: H&M
Boots: Ebay

With this weird winter I could almost say that these are winter pictures, but alas they are from August and I'm still working from old photo albums. I'll get there eventually, but it's kind of fun going through pictures from months ago.

I'm still in this phase of finding good places for pictures out here. This is one of the little places I like to stop off with lunch and a book. I don't know how it fares for pictures yet. But here's  to wishing everyone a late merry Christmas!

Bridges

Outfit Details:
Coat & Belt: Kohl's
Confetti to Go Dress: Modcloth
Tights &  Sweater: Targert
Necklace: Forever21
Boots: ebay
Purse & Scarf: H&M in Belgium

I took an unscheduled break from this little blog of mine. But I'm back and hopefully I'll start posting a little more regularly. It's been a little difficult to wander out in the winter for pictures as the warmth of the indoors is almost too enticing. But on this day I managed to ventured out to one of my favorite parks and was still be able to feel my fingers in the end.

This post is kind of a bridge into 2014, so the title and the pictures seem a good match. I'll admit that because of work I haven't been taking as many outfit photos as before, but taking January off helped me realize that I still do love documenting the outfits I manage to put together. So I'm hoping that I'll get back into the swing of things soon, if not I still have some old pictures to post until I get back to my tripod and camera. It's a new year, so here's to that.

So my little greetings of Christmas is a little late, but better late than never. Unfortunately, it wasn't a white Christmas, despite all the snow before the holiday. But then Christmas isn't really about the snow, is it?

Happy Halloween!

Outfit Details:
Jacket: Hottopic
Dress & Belt: Kohl's
Red Skirt: Thrifted
Other skirt & Tights: Target
Purse: H&M
Combat Boots: TJmaxx
Necklace: Lace affair

This might not be my Halloween costume, but it's so themed of red that it feels like a costume. My actual costume isn't really finished yet. I still have to hem the skirt, oops! Eventually I'll manage some pictures and share it with you guys, but for now I'm keeping it under wraps. As for this outfit I was clearly feeling the whole red color scheme. Somehow, I don't think this has ever happened before, but my hair managed to match this shade perfectly. I layered two skirts because otherwise it was just too short to wear, but it was thrifted and who can say no to that color?

Halloween always feels like the end of autumn, and on this day the weather was beautiful - grey, with a little bit of a warm breeze. The jacket that kept me warm, it's been so loved that there are holes in it. I bought it some five years ago at Hottopic and managed to tote it through Europe with me. I don't wear it as much as I used to, but it's still fun to bring out for a cool evening, and - though you can hardly see it - the inside of the hood is red plaid and somehow it's the same shade as all the rest.

So what is your Halloween costume?

Some Green Among the Trees

Outfit Details:
Green Jacket: TJ Maxx
Lace Shirt: Bodycentral
Skirt: made by me
Belt: Kohl's
Scarf: Target
Necklace: Vintage
 Shoes; Macy's
Purse: H&M

Shopping trip outfits are always the worst. You want something that's easy to change out of and something layer-able, especially since stores tend to range differently temperature wise. Another thing to take into account is having the right pieces for whatever you're going to be trying on. As far as such outfits go, this wasn't a bad choice, but I'm sure there is a better choice, somewhere.

I don't know that I've ever talk about the location these photos are taken at. It's the apple orchard in front of my house. It lays beside the ruins of our barn and right next to the corn fields. (Well, this year they're soy beans.) The trees that have taken root are the best climbing trees we have; and so much of my childhood can be brought back to that little bit of land. In the fall it smells like apples, as so much of the fruit has fallen to the ground. In the spring it's so beautiful when the blossoms peek out from the branches-like in this outfit post. It's places like these that anything can seem possible and almost like nothing could touch you. Forgive me, but I'm a romantic when it comes to my trees and the outdoor world that surrounds them.

Black Lace and Faux Bobs

Outfit Details:
Shirt: Ebay
Jeans: Kohl's
Shoes: TJ Maxx
Necklace: Vintage
Purse: H&M in Belgium

I love having long hair, something about it is just kind of fun. But some days I tire of it and get that urge to chop it all off. Lucky for me, I'm pretty good at resisting it, so, instead, I've learned to fake a bob. Curly hair is often the best for this little trick, but for a straight hair demonstration check out this blog post. I use this tutorial to make this hairstyle, making a few adjustments to make it look a little more natural. I have one more outfit post coming up with this faux bob style, which is the best one in my opinion.

This outfit is a little out of my normal dress code, mainly because there's jeans in the deal. I've always had a soft spot for the edgier look, the black lace and the combat boots just seal the deal. I wore it out for a night one the town: a movie and some coffee, plus a little side action of book shopping. How can anyone resist bookstores? Especially ones with coffee inside.

Toile in the Cemetary

Outfit Details:
Jacket: Wetseal
Necklace: made by me
Belt & Shoes: Kohl's
Purse: H&M

A pretty and new dress means that it must be taken out and worn and photos should be taken if possible. This cemetery is so pretty and I'm surprised I hadn't found it before for pictures. This dress is absolutely gorgeous, but the downside is that it's white and as a clumsy girl I know that one day I'm going to spill something on it. I forgot to get a picture of the back but it has a V back which just makes me love it all the more. Paired with the bright red lipstick and an edgy leather jacket its the perfect outfit. With this outfit who knows what is possible.

Sailor Outfit

Outfit Details:
Red Skater Skirt & flats: Kohl's
Purse: H&M
Necklace: Gift
Pin & Rings: Vintage

There comes a time in someone's life where they find that they have to own something nautical. That's kind of BS because I've always wanted to own nautical things. However, when I found this shirt from modcloth I knew it would go perfectly with my red skirt. When I went to wear this to my friend's graduation party my mom brought out the sailor pin that had been her father's, as he was in the navy. I'm pretty sure it's a sweetheart pin, after he bought it he gave it to my grandma. It's little pieces of history that are always the best accessories.

This outfit is going to be one of my favorites, as my brother pointed out I've already worn it a lot. Hopefully next time I'll get better pictures. I was in a mad rush, yet, in the end I had plenty of time.
