Happy Halloween!

Outfit Details:
Jacket: Hottopic
Dress & Belt: Kohl's
Red Skirt: Thrifted
Other skirt & Tights: Target
Purse: H&M
Combat Boots: TJmaxx
Necklace: Lace affair

This might not be my Halloween costume, but it's so themed of red that it feels like a costume. My actual costume isn't really finished yet. I still have to hem the skirt, oops! Eventually I'll manage some pictures and share it with you guys, but for now I'm keeping it under wraps. As for this outfit I was clearly feeling the whole red color scheme. Somehow, I don't think this has ever happened before, but my hair managed to match this shade perfectly. I layered two skirts because otherwise it was just too short to wear, but it was thrifted and who can say no to that color?

Halloween always feels like the end of autumn, and on this day the weather was beautiful - grey, with a little bit of a warm breeze. The jacket that kept me warm, it's been so loved that there are holes in it. I bought it some five years ago at Hottopic and managed to tote it through Europe with me. I don't wear it as much as I used to, but it's still fun to bring out for a cool evening, and - though you can hardly see it - the inside of the hood is red plaid and somehow it's the same shade as all the rest.

So what is your Halloween costume?

The Apple Orchard

Outfit Details:
Leather Jacket & Cap: Forever21
Dress: Rue21
Skirt: made by me
Belt: Kohl's
Boots: Target

This feels like the last green of the season, locked behind in this apple orchard of ours. This was a nifty outfit for a night on the town and the perfect excuse to bring out my favorite boots. Both my best friend and I own a pair of these boots, that just shows how awesome they are. Somehow, though, we've managed never to wear them at the same time. Since it's the week of Halloween I'll tell you to enjoy your candy treats and cobwebbed houses. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some bats to hang up.

Cemeteries and Galaxies to Explore

Outfit Details:
Jacket: Wetseal
Shirt & Belt: Kohl's
White vest & Boots: TJmaxx
Purse: Target
Necklace: Vintage

The perfect days - weather wise - are always cloudy with a touch of wind. There is that scent in the air, something that can't be described as anything other than the wind. There are moments when you swear you need a jacket, but somehow manage to keep it off for most of your journey. On these days I could sit under the shadow of some tree for hours, in fact I have. Years ago I don't think I understood just how much moments like that meant to me. But more and more I've realized how so little can give you peace like this; and whenever the chance comes I know I need to breathe it in. It probably sounds strange to some but cemeteries are the perfect place to breath it all in, to relax. Despite the morbid sound, cemeteries are quiet and those that visit them don't come to shout and jump. They're little safe spots scattered over the globe, ever so silent.

Fall Sweaters

Outfit Details:
Sweater & White Lace shirt: Kohl's
Black Lace shirt: Rue21
Pants: Hottopic
Purse: Forever21
Necklace: Lace affair
Rings: Belgium, France, and Vintage
Kitten: Myka

While many rejoice with a warmer fall, it tends to prove less colorful and while I know that the best colors come before the end of October, I've been impatiently waiting for a bit more red in the leaves. A few days have proved to be perfect fall days, between the grey lined skies and brisk breeze, one almost doesn't need the trees of hundreds of different colors. I turned to more neutral colors for this fall day outfit, pulling out things from my closet that I don't wear enough. But what really makes an awesome outfit is the little kitten I snagged for one of the pictures.

A Tour of the Galaxy

Outfit Details:
Sweater & Belt: Kohl's
Shirt: Ebay
Tights: Target
Boots: TJmaxx
Necklace: World Market
Ring: France

In embracing this season I set off for that awesome sweater. I found this one at Kohl's and already I love it. It's soft and warm, plus it'll never be forgotten. It's been a warm October, especially for this side of the world, but finally I've been noticing frost on the car windows in the morning and I can see my breath at night. It smells of bonfires after the sun's been tucked away, and not just because we had one yesterday, but because it's fall. It's time to sit down and design our Halloween costumes, to pull out those decorative pumpkins you have somewhere in the house-or if you are me, pull out those bats you like to hang from your ceiling, oh wait! They are out year round.

Overload of Lace

Outfit Details:
Top: Ebay
Skirt: made by me
Belt: Kohl's
Tights: Target
Shoes: TJ maxx
Necklace: Vintage

Some outfits just make us cringe in the end; the overload of lace might have been a bad choice at the time, but the really funny thing is that after reflecting over these pictures I can't even remember where I wore this to. Perhaps it was just some random trip somewhere? Wherever it was, I don't think I lost my street cred over it, but next time I'll stick to black tights. I do absolutely love this shirt though, it can be worn a little more edgy or even like in this outfit, as a soft addition. The first time I wore it out and about, I had a complete stranger come up to me and say how much she loved it. All in all, this outfit wasn't too bad, actually it's almost cute, it's just those dang tights with that shirt. Hmm oh well, not every outfit can be perfect, right?

Some Green Among the Trees

Outfit Details:
Green Jacket: TJ Maxx
Lace Shirt: Bodycentral
Skirt: made by me
Belt: Kohl's
Scarf: Target
Necklace: Vintage
 Shoes; Macy's
Purse: H&M

Shopping trip outfits are always the worst. You want something that's easy to change out of and something layer-able, especially since stores tend to range differently temperature wise. Another thing to take into account is having the right pieces for whatever you're going to be trying on. As far as such outfits go, this wasn't a bad choice, but I'm sure there is a better choice, somewhere.

I don't know that I've ever talk about the location these photos are taken at. It's the apple orchard in front of my house. It lays beside the ruins of our barn and right next to the corn fields. (Well, this year they're soy beans.) The trees that have taken root are the best climbing trees we have; and so much of my childhood can be brought back to that little bit of land. In the fall it smells like apples, as so much of the fruit has fallen to the ground. In the spring it's so beautiful when the blossoms peek out from the branches-like in this outfit post. It's places like these that anything can seem possible and almost like nothing could touch you. Forgive me, but I'm a romantic when it comes to my trees and the outdoor world that surrounds them.

Welcome to the Sixties

Outfit Details:
Jacket: TJ Maxx
Lace Vest: Forever21
Belt & Shoes: Kohl's
Necklace: Vintage
Rings: Vintage & Lead the Aweigh Ring-Modcloth

Something about this outfit brings me to the sixties, which then brings me to the song from Hairspray-"Welcome to the Sixties." That song is just one from the soundtrack that me and my best friend love to blare from my car, normally with the sunroof open and the windows down.

Shopping online is always tricky, things are often hard to digest online. Modcloth has, by far, one of the best online websites to shop at. Their review system is awesome-as you can see the other customers in their frock and get their opinion. This dress, I bought before it had gathered any reviews, so it was a complete gamble, but it really panned out. (Here, here, and here, are a few other ways I've worn it.) On this occasion I wanted something simple and comfy for walking around a local fair. It was also a warm day, so it needed to breathe, and this was a good candidate. I just pulled my hair into a faux-bob and took to the pavement. Some outfits just seem to stick with you more than others.
