Welcome to the Sixties

Outfit Details:
Jacket: TJ Maxx
Lace Vest: Forever21
Belt & Shoes: Kohl's
Necklace: Vintage
Rings: Vintage & Lead the Aweigh Ring-Modcloth

Something about this outfit brings me to the sixties, which then brings me to the song from Hairspray-"Welcome to the Sixties." That song is just one from the soundtrack that me and my best friend love to blare from my car, normally with the sunroof open and the windows down.

Shopping online is always tricky, things are often hard to digest online. Modcloth has, by far, one of the best online websites to shop at. Their review system is awesome-as you can see the other customers in their frock and get their opinion. This dress, I bought before it had gathered any reviews, so it was a complete gamble, but it really panned out. (Here, here, and here, are a few other ways I've worn it.) On this occasion I wanted something simple and comfy for walking around a local fair. It was also a warm day, so it needed to breathe, and this was a good candidate. I just pulled my hair into a faux-bob and took to the pavement. Some outfits just seem to stick with you more than others.

Adventures at the Amusement Park

On one hot summer day, with some friends and family, I went to a local amusement park-by local I mean less than two hours away. I forgot to take pictures as I had planned, but luckily my sister was on top of it. So here are a few.
Outfit Details:
Belt: Kohl's
Necklace: Gift
Sunglasses: Borrowed from my sister

Because this park has a few water rides, I wanted to find the perfect thing to wear. And this dress,  already a staple in my closet, was just right. Before I decided on what to wear I ruled out shorts(because, well, it's me) and over half of my wardrobe quickly. I wanted something that would handle getting wet and was light. This dress was the perfect choice, it dried out quickly after getting completely soaked and was cool even in the blistering heat. Even when it was wet it didn't stick to my legs like some skirts do.

Little day trips like this are always fun, no matter how exhausting they can end up being. It had been a couple years since we last went to this amusement park, but it always managed to feel the same. Sometimes, it feels like my park. The places where many of our memories swarm often becomes our own, I think.

Bright Lipstick and Some Purple

Outfit Details:
Shawl: Forever21
Dress: Modcloth
Skirt: Made by me
Belt: Kohl's
Purse: gift-made by my sister
Shoes: Doctor Scholls Fast Flats
Earrings: Hottopic
Bracelet: Rue21

Let's go for a walk. For many people this would mean wearing pants or otherwise casual clothes. For me it means that I dress like always, which means a skirt or dress. It's funny because once upon a time, I felt so awkward wearing dresses out and about. That seems like forever ago. I've realized that I tend to not really like wearing pants, that sounds a little strange. Because of my body shape, pants tend not to fit right. While when it comes to skirts and dresses, they tend to mend to my figure much easier.

This dress and skirt, they are both a favorite of mine. I like pieces that have something a little unusual. The straps of this dress and the material match that. The skirt, I love that it has pockets. I've learned that if you're going to make clothes, they have to have pockets. I don't understand why many designers think girls don't want pockets. We don't always want to have to carry a purse.

Modcloth Purple

Outfit Details:
Dress & Shoes: Modcloth
Tights & Jacket: Target
Belt: Kohl's
Earrings: Hottopic
Bracelet: gift (necklace used as bracelet)

This blog post represents my first ever Modcloth purchase. Like most fashion bloggers, it's hard not to have heard about the vintage inspired clothing empire. Often some of the cutest dresses I see online are from Modcloth. After receiving an invite from one of my friends to the site (with the invite the invited (person) gets fifteen dollars off a purchase of fifty dollars or more) I found myself falling in love.

The thing that I like best about Modcloth is their review system, which easily guides you in sizing and function. When ordering clothes online, it can be difficult finding the right size and knowing the true color. Their review system isn’t just words, but you can also post pictures of the attire.

This dress has already become a favorite in my closet as it's comfy and my kind of laid back. I've worn it so many times already as it's very versatile, whether it's just for a night on the town or out for a daytime coffee date. As for the shoes, oh the shoes, let's just say they are just as beloved and even more adorable.
