Woodland Fairy

 Outfit Details:
Pastry Shopping Dress & Ring: Modcloth
Skirts: Maurices
Vest: can't remember
Sandles: Charlotte Russe
Bracelet: Ebay
Necklace: Vintage

When I edit my photos I adjust color, sharpness, and brightness. From time to time I've covered up blemishes. When I was editing these pictures I noticed the bruises on my legs, which I always have. But I decided to leave them be. My bruises are part of my character, I bruise easily. Plus, might it not be that woodland fairies have some war marks to boast of? I definitely think so.

Oh, and . . . Happy New Year!

How to Rock High Waisted Shorts

Outfit Details:
Shirt: TJmaxx
Shorts & Hat: Forever21
Boots & Bracelet & Necklace: Ebay
Ring: Vintage
Tights & Socks: Target

I recently had to put my old laptop to bed and I've been slowly breaking in my new one, which means I've been without any photo editing software for a while - or at least one I like. But now I'm back on track with my old trusty program. I'm also learning to accept my new laptop. I may not like it yet, especially not as much as my old one, but we're growing to live with each other.

And yes, I love matching my socks to the rest of my outfit. I also love matching my socks to my hair or matching my hair to my outfit. I'm lucky I can do this and no one stares, okay this is a lie. People stare, but this is because I don't brush my hair and I have strange lace covering my legs. I don't regret it at all.

Happy first day of winter and happy birthday to my awesome mummy!

What Makes the Dress

Outfit Details:
Dress: Forever21
Vest: so old I can't remember
Necklace: Ebay

I bought this burnt, red dress with powerful ideas and good intentions. But it's always different in practice than in theory. I'm still trying to find just how to wear this little dress best. For this try I pulled out my darkest lip stain from NYX and ran with the Gothic Victorian feel. I think I'll have to try a few more pairings before I find the one that makes it.

Summer's Light

Outfit Details:
Sweater: Target
Shirt & Boots: TJmaxx
Skirt: Maurice's
Necklace: gift

I kind of wish I was a fairy. At the time of choosing my outfit, I was probably wishing a little harder than normal. Your clothes can express what you're feeling or what you want to be. Little uneven hemmed skirts and grand sunset lighting in the background made it all possible for me to feel like I'd just stepped into some magical world. That just might be the magic of clothing.

Hobbitland

Outfit Details:
Sweater Vest; thrifted
Shirt: Maurices
Skirt: Kohl's
Tights & Socks: Target
Boots: TJmaxx
Necklace: gift
Bracelet: Ebay

This is a neat little preserve, about an hour from me. It's nicknamed Hobbitland because of its similar feel to the shire. I'm always for finding new spots and hideouts, and easily the best ones have babbling creeks and little stone pathways and bridges. I found no hobbits or little hobbit homes in the ground, but the little preserve is full of Maine's beauty and reminiscent of the Shire's lush green lands.

As for me, right now I'm surviving sans internet for a week or two. I'm taking full advantage of the free wifi coffee shops and libraries have to offer  - which I don't mind too much. I hope everyone is enjoying the beauty that is fall. My favorite season! Don't tell spring.

Don't Forget the Tags

Outfit Details
Sweater & Dress & Tights: Target
Necklace: Vintage
Belt: Kohl's
Bracelet: Ebay
Rock the Weekend Ring: Modcloth
Boots: Hottopic

The moral of these pictures are don't forget to take off the tags on your new purchases. I was taking off my sweater and it got stuck on the tag on my dress. It wasn't like I had already been to a few shops and stopped to drink coffee in my local cafe. Psh, wearing your tags is the high fashion, isn't it?

My Spoon Necklace

Outfit Details:
Jacket: TJmaxx
Dress: Modcloth
Tights: Target
Spoon Handle Necklace: Gift from my Mom
Boots: Ebay

September is Achalasia awareness month, so today seemed the perfect day to share this. For those of you who have been reading along for a while, you might recall my post from last year about my long (and continious) battle with Achalasia. When you suffer from any kind of disease there are ups and downs and flares when your body just starts breaking down on you. Also, more often than not, a chronic illness brings friends - you never just have one enemy to fight against - making for a most difficult journey.

The spoon handle I'm wearing in these pictures was a gift from my mom. She engraved my nickname, Mishy-Me, on it. She was probably unaware of it's meaning to me at the time - since then I've shared its importance with her. For me a spoon represents the first time I'd ever heard someone else put my trials so perfectly into words. The Spoon Theory by Christine Miserandino helped others understand exactly what I had been experiencing for years.

So now I diviate from my regular scheduled programing to share a donation page made for Christine to help pay for some of her most recent (and overwhelming) medical bills. The full story requesting aid may be read here, donations may also be made on the same page. Christine has helped so many with their struggles and I'm glad for the chance to return the favor.

Creek Climbing

Outfit Details:
Jacket & Shirt: Forever21
Shorts & Boots & Bracelet: Ebay
Tights & Socks: Target
Necklace & Earrings: Modcloth

I love this outfit. It composes many features that I have long loved: high waists, warm colors, and combat boots. Of course, I found a great spot to take the pictures as well because my outfit photos must have a beautiful background.

Ocean Trapped

Outfit Details:
Sweater & Shirt & Tights & Shorts & Socks: Target
Boots: Ebay
Scarf: Paris

I recently read a post about how it was a fashion "don't" to wear all the same brand. I narrowly escaped such a mistake. We must thank my shoes and scarf, otherwise, I would have committed fashion suicide it seems. It's impossible to know from one look that my wardrobe comes from one store, and I may seem a walking advertisement for Target, but I wouldn't call it a fashion don't. Fashion "don'ts" are other people's opinions of what they think shouldn't be worn - but that's my own opinion. Fashion is subjective and what is beautiful and comfortable to one will not be for others. Let's not try to judge the crowds on it, alright?

Where the Mountains and Sea Meet

Outfit Details:
Jacket & Shirt & Jeans: TJmaxx
Long Sleeve Shirt: Target
Boots: Ebay
Necklace: Vintage
Scarf: Paris
Earrings: Gift

Taking pictures in the bright sun is to be avoided unless the background is too gorgeous to miss out on. This spot is my favorite, perhaps, of all the little places I've found in my new land. I climbed to the top and the wind took me the rest of the way up. This little land where the sea and the mountains meet is magical. No one may really deny that.

Heel Essentials

Outfit Details:
Sweater & Belt & Skirt: Kohl's
Shirt: TJmaxx
From the Same Cloth Boots: Modcloth
Tights & Purse: Target

I really don't wear heels as much as I'd like. If I do happen to don a pair it tends to be this one. They're surprisingly comfortable and unique. Perhaps it's time that I invest in another universal pair of boots. These are starting to get scuffed up and I fear the day I must put them aside. Until that day I imagine I'll be strutting the streets with their extra kick.

Sunset by the Port

Outfit Details:
Airforce Coat: Vintage
Jacket: Hottopic
Shirt: TJmaxx
Necklace: Claire's
Leggings: Target
Pants & Boots: Ebay

This is a little town, just off the main road. You'll miss it if you don't make the right turn. You'll drive right past it. Perhaps that's its magic. It's one of my favorites, and down by the port where all the boats sit and stay all nice and quiet, the sunset was magic to watch. A few cars drive in and out, they sit and watch the sunset for a few minutes. That night was cold, so the cars kept running and then they pulled away. My hands turned pink quickly. I don't come by this little port too often. I stay by the towns not so forgotten. Perhaps my own mistake.
