Windows and Such

Outfit Details:
Jacket: Wetseal
Top & Watch: Ebay
Skirt: made by me
Necklace: gift
Earrings: Forever21

Funny and all, one of the best uses my blog has, is that later when I'm in a crunch, deciding what to wear, I can browse through all the pictures I've taken. Some little pieces of fashion I come back to time and time again because they are adorable and I love them so.

This skirt and necklace are just so - and so are the heels now that I think about it. The skirt I made out of leftover fabric from a chair cover - laugh, go on - it was terribly Sound of Music of me, but it turned out awesome. The necklace was a gift from a coworker - she made it herself and let me pick out one of her creations. I picked that one because it reminded me of Pocahontas. The heels were one of my first purchases from Modcloth and definitely was a wise choice - especially since I don't own many shoes that aren't boots. Here's to pieces that get their use!

One Last Flake of Snow

Outfit Details:
Cape: Kmart
Jacket & Sweater: Kohl's
Skirt: made by me
Tights & Boots & Gloves: Target

These are some old photos, from before Ollie died. Though he doesn't show up in any of the pictures, he was running around, chasing one of our kittens up a tree-I remember because I was laughing at said kitten. Now that May is here is seems kind of silly to be bringing out pictures of snow, but I might as well get them out before summer is completely upon us.

Overload of Lace

Outfit Details:
Top: Ebay
Skirt: made by me
Belt: Kohl's
Tights: Target
Shoes: TJ maxx
Necklace: Vintage

Some outfits just make us cringe in the end; the overload of lace might have been a bad choice at the time, but the really funny thing is that after reflecting over these pictures I can't even remember where I wore this to. Perhaps it was just some random trip somewhere? Wherever it was, I don't think I lost my street cred over it, but next time I'll stick to black tights. I do absolutely love this shirt though, it can be worn a little more edgy or even like in this outfit, as a soft addition. The first time I wore it out and about, I had a complete stranger come up to me and say how much she loved it. All in all, this outfit wasn't too bad, actually it's almost cute, it's just those dang tights with that shirt. Hmm oh well, not every outfit can be perfect, right?

Some Green Among the Trees

Outfit Details:
Green Jacket: TJ Maxx
Lace Shirt: Bodycentral
Skirt: made by me
Belt: Kohl's
Scarf: Target
Necklace: Vintage
 Shoes; Macy's
Purse: H&M

Shopping trip outfits are always the worst. You want something that's easy to change out of and something layer-able, especially since stores tend to range differently temperature wise. Another thing to take into account is having the right pieces for whatever you're going to be trying on. As far as such outfits go, this wasn't a bad choice, but I'm sure there is a better choice, somewhere.

I don't know that I've ever talk about the location these photos are taken at. It's the apple orchard in front of my house. It lays beside the ruins of our barn and right next to the corn fields. (Well, this year they're soy beans.) The trees that have taken root are the best climbing trees we have; and so much of my childhood can be brought back to that little bit of land. In the fall it smells like apples, as so much of the fruit has fallen to the ground. In the spring it's so beautiful when the blossoms peek out from the branches-like in this outfit post. It's places like these that anything can seem possible and almost like nothing could touch you. Forgive me, but I'm a romantic when it comes to my trees and the outdoor world that surrounds them.

Glasses

Outfit Details:
Top: Forever21
Skirt: Made by me
Shoes: Kohl's
Necklace: Vintage
Glasses: Zenni

I really hate glasses, you have to continually push them up and they squeeze the side of your head and are all together uncomfortable to wear. On other people they are adorable, but as long as I can remember I've hated wearing glasses. However, my contacts have been acting up, and since I'm blind without them, I had to switch to glasses for a while. These glasses are from Zenni, which sells inexpensive glasses, even for someone whose eyes are so horrible that they cost more than everyone else's.

Fourth of July: Eyelets and Some Red

 Outfit Details:
Purple vest: Thrifted
White eyelet shirt: Charlotte Russe
Lace undershirt & Shoes: Kohl's
Skirt: made by me
Necklace: Vintage
Earrings: Hottopic
Bracelet: Forever21
Purse: made by my sister

I wore this for breakfast out and then to a local production of the King and I. I've been wanting more basic colors in my closet lately (namely black and white). This shirt when I first found it I fell madly in love. I wore consistently until it turned cold. A few days ago I realize that I needed to pull it out again. With clothes I've fallen into a place where I don't like to get rid of anything, because it can always be re-purposed or maybe you can just fall in love with it all over again without a thing being different.

Happy Fourth of July all!

Coffee Date

Outfit Details:
Jacket: Wetseal
Lace Cover Up: TJ Maxx
Dress: Ruche
Skirt: Made by me
Tights & Shoes: Target
Belt: Kohl's
Bracelets & Earrings: Forever21
Vintage Air-force Ring

Surprisingly this outfit was worn in June, it's been a mild summer, which I've liked. I wore it for coffee and took a turn about looking for a good place for pictures. Funny thing is that I found a place I've taken pictures at before. (here.) For some reason cemetery are always good places to take pictures.

Welcome to July everyone!

My Sister's Dress

Well, for once I'm not stealing my sister's clothes. Meet my sister Kaitlin. My very talented mother made this lovely, vintage patterned dress for her. When the dress was finished I took my sister out for a spin about the yard and photographed her. These are those pictures. (That sounded very dramatic in my head.)

Dress: Made by my very talented mother
Bracelet: Vintage
Shoes: Wal-Mart
Puppy: Ollie

I might have gone a little crazy with the pictures, but I got so many good ones. It was strangely refreshing not to be in front of the camera and it was so much fun getting to boss my sister around, instructing her how to pose. I didn't really have to instruct her much on how to pose, she is a natural in front of the camera. Of course, I did tell her to climb the tree. Because when in heels and a dress one HAS to climb a tree. (Or at least try.) But her sticking out her tongue, that was all her.

Bright Lipstick and Some Purple

Outfit Details:
Shawl: Forever21
Dress: Modcloth
Skirt: Made by me
Belt: Kohl's
Purse: gift-made by my sister
Shoes: Doctor Scholls Fast Flats
Earrings: Hottopic
Bracelet: Rue21

Let's go for a walk. For many people this would mean wearing pants or otherwise casual clothes. For me it means that I dress like always, which means a skirt or dress. It's funny because once upon a time, I felt so awkward wearing dresses out and about. That seems like forever ago. I've realized that I tend to not really like wearing pants, that sounds a little strange. Because of my body shape, pants tend not to fit right. While when it comes to skirts and dresses, they tend to mend to my figure much easier.

This dress and skirt, they are both a favorite of mine. I like pieces that have something a little unusual. The straps of this dress and the material match that. The skirt, I love that it has pockets. I've learned that if you're going to make clothes, they have to have pockets. I don't understand why many designers think girls don't want pockets. We don't always want to have to carry a purse.
